Just One Hat

crochet devoSometimes life throws you lemons and you just have to juggle them then make a refreshing drink! I’m sitting in McDonalds using their wifi because the cable guy can’t get to my house until after 10! Oh well, it could be worse 🙂

I once heard a story about a terrible storm. The storm had been so severe that it had washed up thousands of sea stars (star fish) up on the beach. A young girl began carrying one sea star after the other back to the ocean in hopes that it wouldn’t die. An old man came up to her and asked what she was doing. Upon hearing that what she was about, he laughed and said there was no way she was going to make any difference. There were too many sea stars on the beach. The young girl looked at the sea star in her hand and said, “It’s going to make a difference for this one.”
One step, one act, one hat. Each and every small step we take, one single act of kindness, each one little hat brings us closer to a goal.

I got a comment from ZaMarah. She had made a hat to donate to Knots of Love. When I emailed her about almost being in tears, I was totally fighting them back. I was amazed and humbled that she had taken time form her busy life: building her business, being a grandma, blogging, to make a hat.

The Bible talks about the importance of one: Luke 15:4, 5
“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.”

Well, I am rejoicing all right. How can you be the one for someone today?

What a lovely word picture – Today is Do One Nice Thing day. This is a perfect example how one small act can make a big impact even if for just one small person.
