WIP Wednesday and Progress Update

Happy Wednesday!

Wow, it feels like forever since I’ve posted on here! And it has been a while. But I’ve been a busy girl! I may have mentioned that on my journey for 31 days to Prepare for a Craft show, one day focused on the craft area.

Uh, well, I didn’t have one. I had an area that has “housed” many things: beauty shop, school room, and now finally a craft area. But in order to get it ready, I had some major jobs to tackle. So, I got caught up in Spring Cleaning and Purging and Organizing my entire house! Yeah, it took some time since I’m a pack rat.

I normally wouldn't show how messy my house can get.

I normally wouldn’t show how messy my house can get.

As you can see, from just my craft area, I had my hands busy.

My daughter loves to sew and craft (like her Momma.) I set up space for us both to share.

A place for everything and everything in its place.

My stash 🙂

All I need is to take my label maker and label everything!! After I finished all that, I was able to pick back up my hook and finished my son’s school blanket.

I was asked to make a pillow for a friend of mine for her job.

She wanted words on the pillow and I was having the hardest time figuring out how to do it since it was such a small pillow. I first tried to just do some color work on it. NOT. It was not right. I tried to embroider on it. NOT. Then I tried do cross stitch, but I didn’t like the way it looked. So, finally I did a crochet chain to write the words. It came out fine, but I forgot to take a picture
😦

I picked up this amazing Marble chunky yarn by James C. Brett and I’ve been waiting to make a new project bag! Whew! So what’s on your hook? Check out what others are working on:

WIP Wednesday And Day 10

31 days to crafts show

Two Years ago, I lost 40 pounds. Zumba helped. Running helped. Weight Watchers helped. But what helped the most was tracking! I tracked everything I ate, I tracked my weight loss, I tracked how many inches I lost. I love seeing my numbers shrink. I once read that if you want to see success about something, you should track it.

On the day 10, Molly discussed about tracking inventory. I’ve seen first hand how important tracking something is.

So adding to my inventory I’m working on…

I’m up to four dish cloths now.

A doll. She’s coming along. I wish the picture came out better.

And my son wanted to me make him a blanket based on his high school colors!

Day 3- Inventory and WIPs

31 days to crafts showHappy WIP Wednesday! Today, I’m also working on my 31 Days to prepare for a craft show. On day three of Molly’s 31 Days she discussed how much inventory would she have to bring (and make) for her first crafts show. Well, I think that ties in to my WIPs.

I finished my Tusican Enterlac and I don’t have anything else pending so now is the time to begin making my inventory.
enterlac blanket

But how much to make? What should I focus on making? Where do I begin? Yes, I needed to take a breath!

Molly listed the things she was going to sell in her post, so that’s where could start.

Baby hats , Baby booties , Baby sweater
Dolls , Doll clothes , Adult hats
Softies , Patterns , Crochet key chains
Hair accessories , Flip flop charms , Purses
Blankets , Tote bags , Shoes
Crochet doll food

All these things could work, but depending on which craft fair I plan to enter will really help me focus on which items to focus my attention on.

This week, I’ve began working on…

I love this hat. I used Red Heart Baby love in lilac and green. The butterfly came out well. I want to do a tutorial on it.

This will be attached to a hair clip. One thing I kept seeing on boards and posts, is that hair do-dads for girls sell well. I used embroidery floss! I was a bit skeptical as to how it would work, but it wasn’t that difficult.

I found a post that said, as a rule of thumb, you should bring 10x the amount of the cost of the booth worth of inventory. FOr example, if the booth cost $100, 10 x 100= $1000 worth of product. I’ve got a lot of work to get done.

Happy WIP Wednesday!

I wanted to post my pic of my FINISHED, yes FINISHED Michigan blanket.

finished michigan-1

YAY!!!! I think it turned out really well and the young man who bought it LOVED it!!! I washed it before I gave it to him and if possible, it was soooo much softer and nice afterwards. Who knew? 🙂

I wanted to take a small rest, but got another order for a throw. I wanted something different, so I’m experimenting with Enterlac Crochet.

I'm using Caron One Pound Claret and Caron One Pound Lace. I also get to use my size K crochet hook for the first time!!! Loving it. Since this was my first time with this technic, I followed the directions from a tutorial I found. It is completeing the enterlac in the round. I’m changing it up a little bit, but I’m enjoying it so far.

I visited a local yarn store for the first time and bought some dreamy yarn by Plymouth Select SW Merino and Plymouth Dreambaby DK. Not sure what each will become yet, but I love the way they feel!!!!

So what’s on your hooks? If you get a chance, don’t forget to stop by to see what others are up to on Tami

WIP Wednesday

I have a deadline of Friday, yep three days, to finish my Michigan Blanket. I had some set backs: running out of my yarn, not following the pattern and having to froggy three rows because I skipped starting part of the M, finding the WRONG color of navy and it appearing purple. Whew, it’s been an experience! But the end is drawing near (I hope!lol)

Michigan!

I’m reading a new book, Ashes of Twilight. Just started, so I don’t know if I really like it yet. I love reading YA and I love Dystopian fiction, but the jury is still out on steampunk.

What's on your hook? Are you reading a book? Please share.

Happy WIP Wednesday!

Today is day 30 of the 31 Day Blog Challenge. I haven’t posted for each prompt, but I have learned so much from this process. Thank you so much Sara for issuing this challenge! Today’s prompt is about sharing a bit of myself with my readers. I think I’ve done that over the last 30 days and plan to continue.

Monday’s post discussed about my difficulty with trying to develop a pattern for a pig: Pinkie T Pig. Well, he’s what I’ve got so far
pinky t

I think she’s coming along quite nicely! What do you think?

I’ve even begun her story. I love when books come with their very own stuffies and I would love to be able to combine my love of creating adorable- in my opinion 🙂 – stuffies and writing books for children! Therefore, I would love for my stuffies to come with books!

Speaking of books, I’m reading a good one.
FullDisclosure_mck.indd<

I’ve read all of her O’Mallory series and this is her newest one.
So what’s on your hooks? Or on your Nooks? (lol, sorry. I love to rhyme.) And if you have a chance, do stop by Tami’s to see what others are working on. Everyone enjoys encouragement!

WIP Wednesday

Wow, is it Wednesday again already? I’ve been so busy crocheting to meet a deadline. My work in progress is actually completed! And I’m worse for the wear. There is a muscle that is killing me in my wrist. Anyone else ever hurt themself crocheting? If so, when will it stop hurting?

Day 16 of the blog challenge is short and sweet, for me, currently I don’t follow anyone on Twitter. Any suggestions of whom I should follow? Complete Twitter newbie here!

Well, anyway I finished my basket weave baby blanket. I used teal and lavender Lion Brand Pound of love. The WIP-y part is now I’m writing up the pattern.

The matching hat, has a butterfly on it.

Speaking of hats, I’m also working on my first DESIGN-A-LONG. I’m so excited! It will be just like a crochet-a-long, but we will be working on how to create a design from start to finish! More details will be posted on my Facebook Fan page . Like me for the details.

WIP Wednesday

Today’s Blog Challenge we are to discuss our blog calendars. I would love to begin offering interviews and guest bloggers (any volunteers?) as well as doing challenges? What do you like seeing on your favorite blogs?

I love seeing what others are working on so here goes my first WIP Wednesday.

I’m not a big sports fan but I had an idea about sport team themed blankets. So when I was chatting up a potential customer about creating a baby blanket for her, her co-worker asked what else I did. I told him about my idea and he was excited! Enter my Michigan Blanket.

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

I started Sunday. I’m using Red Heart Bright Yellow and Caron Midnight Blue. It’s been a challenge to carry the yarn without the blue showing through the yellow. I had read about using bobbins, but that seemed a bit difficult so I made yarn-carry-all (for lack of a better name.) Would you like to see a tutorial about making these?

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

I’m about a third of the way through. I’m working off of a plan and a pattern that I created.

So what’s on your hooks? I’d love to see it!
